We’re not sure if you’ve noticed, but winter is coming! Days are shorter, and there’s a cool, crisp bite in the air. Winter brings all sorts of things we love – cosy nights in, mandarins, winter fashion (hello, boots!), warming bowls of soup.
Although there is much to love about winter, there are a few things that we here at Crown Hair don’t exactly love about the cooler months, namely dull and dry skin. We asked our friends at HydroSkinCare a few questions about what you can do to eliminate common winter skin complaints.
Crown Hair: What are the most important actions you can take to look after your skin in winter?
HydroSkin: During the winter months, skin becomes more dry due to lack of humidity, increased wind, and internal heating which draws moisture out of the air and our skin. This dehydration increases the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles (think crepe paper – not a great look!) and leaves skin dull and lacklustre. Dryness like this can also increase skin and lip discomfort, sometimes causing cracking. But never fear! There is a solution. Make sure to drink plenty of water – internal and external hydration are equally as important, limit caffeine and limit exposure to air-conditioned heating if possible. A small humidifier in your bedroom will increase humidity and improve dry skin.
HydroSkin: The whole philosophy behind HydroSkin is hydration. We have 3 core products developed to combat dehydration year round – The 3 Steps. Step 1: Hydro Mist, decreases pigmentation and age spots with Vitamin B and dampens the skin to prepare for Step 2.
Because of winter’s unique negative impact on skin, we developed our Winter Oil! It is 100% plant based and contains only 2 ingredients – Squalene and native Australian Davidson Plum Seed Oil. Squalene mimics the skin’s natural sebum (oil), replenishing what is compromised during harsh winter months. Winter Oil is easily absorbed, leaves no greasy residue, does not clog pores and results in glowing, luminous skin.
Crown Hair: So how should Winter Oil be used?
