About AgInnovators

AgInnovators is published by NSW Farmers, the peak industry representative body for agriculture in the state of New South Wales, Australia. The initiative is supported by Australia's National Farmers Federation and a range of peak innovation bodies and agencies.
Its content includes news and in-depth feature articles, event infomation, case studies and videos as well as detailed information resources developed through collaborations with supporters. Launched in mid-2014, the AgInnovators' web portal has grown to be a leading channel for communications and educational material about the future of the sector. AgInnovators aims to stimulate conversation about the future of the food and fibre industry and the people who are shaping it.
New technologies are being developed and applied at every point in the value chain. At the same time, global thinking is evolving about how we can produce food and fibre more sustainably as the world's population grows towards a projected 9.6 billion by 2050. A linking theme across our content is that all branches of the industry, in every nation, share the same resource-constrained world and need to minimise inputs, optimise processes and provide better service.
Many of the innovation frontiers in agriculture are cross-sectoral and involve digital technology and new collaboration models. In future, for example, most primary producers in Australia, whether they operate broadacre or high-tech indoor facilities, will be optimising production processes using sensor tech and automation, and supplying digital data along with physical goods to inform compliance, authentication and marketing processes. Right-angle benefits of instrumenting farms and supply chains include reduced wastage, better understanding of environmental constraints and improved consumer visibility and choice. A related frontier is the nexus between food and medicine and the cross over sciences exploring how soil health and upstream processes in the food industry impact nutritional values and health outcomes for consumers. In addition to carrying innovation news and promoting research outcomes, we deliver projects with our supporters - for example, our resources on farm energy efficiency and solar energy in irrigation are popular with readers from around the world.
Within our budgetary limits - this is a not-for-profit service - we are improving the platform and user experience. A more mobile-friendly version of AgInnovators was launched in November 2016: a recent site improvement is giving users the ability to view current AgInnovators content by global location.
We hope you enjoy the new site features. To receive the fortnightly AgInnovators' e-newsletter, please subscribe.
