This forward-thinking council in Northern NSW is using shire residents’ kitchen scraps and garden waste to create recycled-organics products that farmers across the region can use to replenish their soils, boost crop productivity, and reduce water and fertiliser use.

The amount of garden (green) and food waste diverted from landfill thanks to recycling has risen by around 80% in NSW since 2003- that's the equivalent of two million-plus tonnes of organic material saved from landfill annually. Congratulations are due to citizens who recycle, the organics waste industry, and those who buy compost from organic recycling firms.
