At Agritechnica, the world’s largest trade fair for agricultural machinery and equipment, new farming technologies and developments from across the globe are unveiled along with cutting-edge solutions and concepts for the future of plant production.
The week-long expo, held biennially at the vast Fairgrounds and Convention Centre in Hannover, Germany, doubles as an information platform. Here, primary producers can seek solutions to farming challenges and talk about new equipment and technology with designers, manufacturers and experts in the field.
Agritechnica 2015 attracted more than 2,900 exhibitors from 52 nations and an estimated 452,000 expert visitors from 115 countries, including 98,000 overseas visitors.
This year’s theme, ‘Green Future – Smart Technology’, will showcase “forward-looking technologies and development trends” with an eco-friendly focus.
Technical program
Along with an extensive program of workshops, demonstrations and talks supplied by exhibitors, the Agritechnica trade fair incorporates:
- several international conferences and seminars;
- a special sustainability forum;
- a young farmers day;
- ‘expert forums’ hosted by DLG that encompass the fields of science, business, consultancy services and agricultural practice, addressing current developments in crop production, technology and management;
- an international dealer and service provider meeting place; and
- a systems and components technical program.
If you’re an Agritechnica 2017 exhibitor and want to participate in a forum, send in your proposal.
International conferences and seminars
International conferences and seminars at Agritechnica cover “the latest international developments and trends” in agricultural machinery and equipment. Planned conferences and meetings at Agritechnica 2017 include:
- Ag Machinery International – Access to emerging markets
- Ag Machinery International: Opportunities in new markets (Kenya, Zambia, Iran)
- Ag Machinery International: Emerging markets in focus (China, Russia, Ukraine)
- Ag Machinery International: South-East Asia in focus (Thailand, Myanmar)
- LAND.TECHNIK – AgEng 2017, focused on current developments and research findings in agricultural engineering.
Special forum: Future crop protection – responsibility needs ideas
Crop protection, mechanical or chemical, is critical to successful production. This special forum will explore the latest developments in the fields of forecasting models, nozzle technology, boom guidance and GPS control, as well as drone and robot technology.
Discussion will focus on the changes needed to enable more efficient and eco-friendly agricultural production, and on actions farmers can take to improve the way they use machinery and technology.
Participants will be able to view, compare and discuss new crop protection equipment and systems; share ideas and experiences regarding crop-protection strategies with fellow farmers, suppliers and experts in the field, and get your questions answered on the spot by crop protection specialists.
Young Farmers Day
Young farmers and new recruits to the ag sector converge on Agritechnica on Thursday 16 November 2017 for Young Farmers Day. There will also be plenty of time to swap stories and contact details.
From 10am-5pm, the Young DLG will present a technical program with the theme ‘Access to the profession, careers and salaries’: information sessions and discussion forums will be followed by a panel discussion helmed by international guests from 6-8pm.
The highlight of the day is the legendary Young Farmers Party, which runs from 8pm till late in the TUI Arena, EXPO Plaza 7.

Technical forum: Systems & components
A specialised trade show within Agritechnica, the Systems & components forum is an international platform for new developments in transmissions, engines and hydraulics for agricultural machinery and related industries.
Today’s complex machinery demands numerous synchronised components – mechanical, hydraulic, electric and electronic. Thus it requires ‘connectivity’ – among the components themselves and between humans, companies and components. Under this year’s theme, ‘Stay connected!’, Systems & components 2017 will focus on the interaction between systems in mobile applications.
Running from Monday to Friday, Systems & components comprises six forums a day: one university session; three ‘Out of the box’ sessions; and two round-table sessions. It is expected to be attended by more than 100,000 professional visitors from management, R&D, procurement, research and academia.
International Dealer and Service Provider Centre
In 2015 Agritechica’s Dealer Centre became the International Dealer and Service Provider Centre. Sited in Hall 2, next to the ‘Workshop live’ stand, it’s the meeting point for ag service providers from around the world.
