Livestock production assurance requirements for beef producers

As food producers, livestock farmers need to understand and implement Livestock Production Assurance (LPA) requirements to ensure food safety along the supply chain.

LPA accreditation means you agree to abide by Australia's LPA Rules and Standards, undertaking specific on-farm practices that mean the red meat you produce will be safe to eat.

From 1 September 2016, producers seeking LPA accreditation for the first time must work through AUS-MEAT Limited's new LPA Learning tool via the LPA Service Centre (it should take 30 minutes, approx.), then do an online assessment.

From January 2017, producers will be required to log in to the LPA Service Centre and complete a 10-question assessment to renew their accreditation.

Accreditation lasts for three years.
